What is The Life File
Life is full of important records scattered across drawers, emails, and memories. The Life File gathers them into one private, encrypted vault — organised, always accessible to you, and ready for those you trust when the time comes.
Family members you invite never see your records — only that you have an active account. Your designated executors gain access only after verified bereavement.
Record Categories
Eight comprehensive sections cover every corner of your life — each encrypted individually so no single breach exposes everything.
Bank accounts, pensions, investments, credit cards, debts and account credentials.
Passports, birth certificates, National Insurance, driving licence and other official IDs.
Email accounts, social media, subscriptions and any online accounts with credentials.
Life, health, home, travel and any other policies with provider and policy details.
Energy, broadband, water, council tax and all home service account details.
Registration, MOT dates, insurance, finance agreements and service history.
Wills, powers of attorney, property deeds and any other legal instruments.
Medical history, prescriptions, NHS number, GP details and emergency contacts.
Getting Started

Populate your vault at your own pace across eight categories. Upload documents, add credentials and notes — all encrypted before they reach our servers.
Create family groups and designate trusted executors. They'll be notified of your account, but cannot access it until verification is complete.
Security & Privacy
Every record in The Life File is encrypted end-to-end. We cannot read your data — only you can, and only with your verified credentials. Passwords cannot be saved to browsers, and MFA is mandatory.
Military-grade encryption applied at the record level. Each section uses independent keys.
Multi-factor authentication is required for every login. Authenticator app, SMS or hardware key.
Browser and device password saving is blocked. Your master password must be entered every session.
Even our administrators cannot view your records. Encryption and decryption happen only on your device.
Full compliance with UK & EU data protection law. Your right to erasure and data portability protected.
Automatic session timeouts, IP monitoring and suspicious login alerts on every account.

Executor submits a bereavement request through the secure submission portal.
Administrator reviews submitted proof — death certificate or equivalent documentation.
Upon approval, executor receives full read access to all records in the vault.

Subscription Lifecycle
We're transparent about how accounts are managed — giving you control and plenty of time to reactivate.
No. Your 60-day free trial requires no payment information whatsoever. We only ask for billing details if you choose to subscribe at the end of your trial period.
Never. Family members you invite can only see that you have an account and whether your subscription is currently active — they cannot see any records, documents or personal information. Only designated executors can access records, and only after administrator-verified bereavement.
Because of our zero-knowledge encryption architecture, your password cannot be recovered by us. You will need to complete our secure identity verification process to regain access, which involves MFA and identity checks. This is by design — it means no-one, including our staff, can ever access your vault without your credentials.
The Life File is available in over 50 languages with automatic detection based on your browser settings. Subscription prices are automatically converted to your local currency at the time of payment. Supported currencies include GBP, EUR, USD, CAD, AUD, and many more.
When a loved one passes, your designated executor submits a bereavement access request through our secure portal, uploading supporting documentation such as a death certificate. Our team reviews and verifies the request, typically within 2–5 business days. Once approved, the executor receives access to the full vault. This process is never automated — a human administrator approves every request.
If your trial ends or your subscription payment fails, your account enters a Frozen state for up to 180 days. You can still log in, but you cannot open or add records. During this window you can reactivate at any time by subscribing. After 180 days, the account and all records are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Yes. A Lifetime plan gives you permanent access with no recurring fees, ever. It covers all future updates and features. For Lifetime users, the 180-day deletion policy only applies if you explicitly request account deletion — your account will never be deleted automatically.
Yes. You can create and belong to multiple family groups simultaneously — for example, your own household and your parents’ family group. Each group is managed independently, and you can designate different executors within each group.
Start your 60-day free trial today. No payment card. No commitment. Just the peace of mind that the people you love will have everything they need.
